We will exalt the Lord at all times.
Your praise will always be on our lips.
Our souls will boast in You.
Let all who are afflicted with sickness,
pain,
fear,
frustration,
enemies,
destruction,
relationship problems,
or addictions,
hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and rejoice!
May they glorify You with us,
We desire to exalt Your name together.
Why?
Because when we were in distress and afflicted, we sought You and You answered us.
Each of us.
You delivered us from our greatest fears.
We knew shame,
but when we looked to You we were covered with Your mercy
and became radiant, beautiful beings.
We were poor in spirit
and we called out to You, and You heard us,
and saved us out of our greatest troubles.
We say to our community, to our town, to our province, to our nation, to our world:
Taste and see that the Lord is good!
Blessed are all people who take refuge in the Lord.
Everything in this world will feel hungry, and weak and sick…
unless they seek the Lord!
All those who seek Him will lack no good thing.
We say to our children:
listen to us, we will teach you the fear of the Lord.
We will teach you what it means to be a disciple of Christ.
We will model for you a righteous life,
and teach you how to honour Him.
Lord we love this life,
we desire to see many good days.
Help us to keep our tongues from evil,
our lips from speaking lies.
Help us to turn from evil
and do what is good.
Help us to seek peace and pursue it.
Your eyes are on us, Lord.
Your ears are attentive to our cry.
Your face us against those who do evil
and we long for the day when there will be no memory of sin.
We look forward to your kingdom come.
We cry out to you, as do so many around us Lord,
and you hear us.
Thank you for delivering us from our greatest troubles.
Thank you for being close to the broken hearted.
Thank you for saving those who are crushed in spirit.
Yes Lord, we have many troubles and we cannot escape them in this life,
but you deliver us from them all and protect our bodies and souls.
You preserve us as our great shield,
our great King.
The evil around us slay each other.
The enemies around us seek to condemn,
but your justice will win out.
You redeem your servants
and no one will be condemned who takes refuge in you!
We pray In the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen!
(Prayer adapted from Psalm 34)
